Overprotected - Jennifer Laurens This book is SO much more than a love story. It will show you struggle, emotion, love, and it's all so real. I adored every page of this story. We start off with New York "princess" Ashlyn. After being abducted by a nanny when she was young, her father goes to every precaution to protect her, including hiring a body guard to watch her. Ashlyn who is almost 18 constantly asks her father to lighten up, but he will hear nothing of the sort. So when her previous body guard starts to become to close to Ashlyn, her father fires him and hires a new bodyguard. Now, if having someone follow you around 24/7 was irritating, imagine if your new bodyguard was your childhood enemy. Soon Ashlyn will realize that people can change, there are secrets she could have never imagined, and to never give up on what you want.I adored this book! I feel like all the books I've read by Jennifer Laurens have somehow hit home with me. I can't go into details on why this one did or I would spoil the book. But, it has to do with Ashlyn's family. I know what it feels like to sometimes struggle with your family, and I love how Ashlyn overcomes this.I loved so much about Ashlyn. First off her name is gorgeous! I have such a thing for unique names. Also I mentioned I love how Ashlyn is able to deal and overcome all her family struggles. One way she deals with it is through her music. She plays piano until her emotions are released in the song, and I can SO relate. I don't play piano, but listening to music is everything to me. There are songs and lyrics for everything and it helps so much. Finally, Colin. Oh yeah... He's a sexy boy. :) Colin is the all brooding dark hair, dark eyes, strong, caring guy. He is SUCH a good guy and I'm a goner for them. Even though it's his job to protect Ashlyn, he does so much more. He cares for her, helps her, guides her, and is always there for her. I was rooting for Colin and Ashlyn till the very end. Another aspect of the romance I adored was that Colin was 3 years older than her! Yes! Thank you for showing a relationship where the characters aren't the same age and it works! I loved it!A couple few ending notes, i loved that there were B&N scenes, i loved the unique food, the amazing view from her house, among with other things! This book was fantastic and I highly suggest it! A definite go buy!! =D
